What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a 3,000-year-old healing technique of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by inserting hair-fine needles into specific acupuncture points. Based on the TCM philosophy, energy (Qi) flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Qi maintains the dynamic balance of Yin and Yang, which are complementary opposites. An imbalance of Qi causes disease. Acupuncture therapy can release blocked energy in the body and stimulate its function. Other techniques of TCM, such as herbal medicine, acupressure, ear patch, cupping, and heat therapy, may further enhance the effects.
